Financial Responsibility
We receive many inquiries as to what the cost will be to correct certain foot and ankle conditions surgically. Foot and ankle surgery is complex and there is no "one size fits all" approach. We can use bunions as an example:
There are over 100 bunion procedures listed in the medical literature, all with varying indications depending on the severity/type of the bunion. Some of these procedures are also combined with one another to achieve the common goal of correcting the bunion itself. Therefore, the surgical plan needs to be very specific to your bunion and it may require more than one procedure (within the same surgery.)
As such, the scope of surgery is dictated at the time of your consultation and the office is unable to provide precise cost estimates over the phone.
Surgery is performed at our private facility and therefore Alberta Health Care or other provincial health plans do not pay for any part of the procedure(s). Follow ups are included in the cost of the procedure.
Patients are responsible for payment in full prior to surgery. We accept credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX,) debit, cash, or e-transfer. The office can provide records for patients who later wish to attempt reimbursement from their insurance companies (Blue Cross, Manulife etc. ) if applicable.
Please feel free to contact our office. We will do our best to provide you information to help with your financial planning.
