About Dr. Matthew Turanovic

Dr. Matthew Turanovic

The surgical journey starts with knowing some background about your surgeon and their qualifications.

“I come from Edmonton originally. I began at the University of British Columbia and eventually finished my undergraduate studies at the University of Alberta.

I attended medical school for 4 years at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, California, USA. Our program emphasized academics with early “hands-on” clinical training at busy hospitals and medical clinics around the San Francisco area.

I then went on to complete a rigorous 3 year residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery with an added credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot & Ankle Surgery at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital in the Detroit, Michigan area. This is a fast paced level III trauma center with 401 beds.

I performed a wide spectrum of elective forefoot and rearfoot surgeries, foot and ankle trauma surgeries, and limb salvage operations in both inpatient and outpatient center settings. I was fortunate to train with top orthopedic and podiatric surgeons who are well known and respected in their fields. Having worked extensively with these surgeons, I’ve gathered their knowledge and developed a unique and broad skill set. I was also very involved academically attending supplemental surgical courses and also as an author and presenter at various conferences listed below.

Additionally, I had comprehensive rotations in plastic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, general orthopedic surgery, orthopedic trauma surgery, emergency medicine, internal medicine, infectious disease, dermatology, endocrinology, rheumatology, and radiology. These experiences allowed me to obtain a greater range of treatment options and surgical techniques to better treat my patients.

I am double board certified by: the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry. “

Sincerely,
Dr. Matthew Turanovic DPM
